In India, a local women’s foundation is developing and testing an app to answer women’s questions about sexual health. Cultural norms can make getting information on reproductive matters sensitive for women and girls. It is hoped the AI chatbot will make accurate medical information more freely and discreetly available to them. A group of 80 female testers train the chatbot by asking questions about intimacy, and the answers are checked for accuracy by developers.
Once questions and answers have been assessed, and corrected, if necessary, they are added into the database to improve the future performance of the app. This pilot project could contribute to the use of AI in healthcare worldwide, offering personalized and accurate guidance to people who, for whatever reason, can’t easily access clinics or medically trained staff.
