The way we design homes is changing…. With the creation of the world’s largest neighborhood of 3D printed homes.
This innovative project is a collaboration of a Texas construction firm and a Danish architectural firm. The first of these groundbreaking homes has just been unveiled, marking the beginning of a new era in sustainable construction.
The homes are constructed using a concrete based material, called Lava Crete, piped into place by 46-foot-wide robotic printers. According to industry experts, 3D printing can deliver high quality homes quicker, cleaner and cheaper than traditional building methods.
The homes have three to four bedrooms – and for more savings– they are equipped with solar panels and have energy efficient interiors. Not only does this innovative construction method help address the current deficit of approximately five million homes in the United States, but it also helps construction waste.
This project is a significant step toward sustainable, affordable, and efficient housing as widespread use of this technology will lead to it becoming even more economical.
