In Nigeria, widespread protests have erupted as government employees and other union workers initiated a nationwide strike due to increasing inflation and economic troubles. Citizens express deep frustration over the increasing cost of living, with gasoline prices more than doubling and inflation reaching a near 30 year-high of almost 30percent last month.
Recent policy reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of currency exchange rates, have contributed significantly to these financial strains. Despite previous government agreements to end strikes in exchange for financial support and subsidies, the promised relief has not happened, leading to continued unrest and the current strike, affecting various services across the country.
