Researchers at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, in the U.S., have come up with an amazing new blood test device that can detect glioblastoma, a deadly brain cancer, in just one hour!
This easy-to-use device only needs a small blood sample, making it much simpler for early diagnosis. Currently, diagnosing glioblastoma means going through invasive biopsies, which can be risky and uncomfortable. But now, with this new blood test, there’s a non-invasive option that allows for quick detection as soon as symptoms first appear. The key is a special biochip that captures and identifies markers linked to this cancer with high accuracy. The researchers envision broader applications of this technology in diagnosing other diseases, such as pancreatic cancer, cardiovascular disease, and dementia.
