A non-profit volunteer rescue organization in the us has aided more than one hundred senior dogs in need of medical attention due to neglect or the high cost of medical care. The distressing circumstances surrounding the life of a Yorkshire terrier led to the establishment of this dedicated rescue operation. The small senior dog lived a very difficult life but the organization provided her the love and care she had been deprived of.
While not a shelter in the traditional sense, the rescue operation works with a network of foster parents who provide care to senior dogs until they find a new home or pass away. Dogs considered unadoptable live with the founder. Before pairing with foster parents, all dogs are evaluated and given any necessary medical treatment. Almost all rescue dogs require veterinary care. Yet, it’s rare to find a dog with as many medical issues as the terrier that inspired the rescue operation.
The more volunteers the organization has, the more they can do. The operation is funded through adoption fees, financial contributions, and the sale of corporate and handmade merchandise. One of the most popular items is a t-shirt featuring the paw print of the terrier that inspired it all. The older dogs rescued by this nonprofit are showered with the love and attention they never had for whatever time they have left.
