The IDA apartment complex is a novel addition to the Roosevelt Street arts district in Phoenix Arizona, and showcases a different approach to urban design and sustainability. Developed by architect Brian Stark, this towering structure stands 26 meters tall and is constructed from 64 recycled shipping containers, marking it as North America’s tallest container tower.
The complex offers a variety of living spaces, including spacious one and two-story apartments that challenge conventional expectations of container-based architecture. Beyond its distinctive design, the IDA complex sets new standards in self-sufficiency, featuring a comprehensive rainwater collection system and solar panels that ensure energy and water autonomy.
These green technologies contribute to the sustainability of the building and offer long-term economic benefits to its residents. The IDA apartment complex enriches the local community with its architectural innovation and demonstrates Stark’s broader commitment to sustainable urban development through additional projects in the area.
