One of our planet’s biggest environmental issues is trash and plastic, and what to do with it. There is 100 million tons of floating debris in the north Pacific Ocean alone. A fleet of specially designed boats owned by ever wave foundation, is making strides in managing waste by focusing on where the problem begins, which is in our rivers and lakes.
The boats hunt and collect 20 tons of floating trash daily from rivers and lakes before it gets to the ocean. After collecting the waste, the next step is to identify recyclable items. This intelligent system ensures each piece of plastic is given a second chance at life, transforming waste into resources, and identifying the source of pollution to prevent future trash accumulation. The initiative is driven by a dedicated team of specialists, becoming educators and advocates in this battle against waste.
Through educational programs, they expose the harsh reality of plastic pollution to younger generations, empowering them to make ecofriendly choices. The goal is to create a ripple effect of change in consumer behavior and corporate packaging strategies. By using honeycomb shaped platforms that perch in high traffic areas, they capture debris without hindering marine traffic.
These platforms collect garbage and also create local jobs and spread awareness. The foundation is also scaling up its operations, focusing on trash hotspots. The ultimate vision of the EverWave foundation is to eliminate the need for their services. While the mission is ambitious, the progress so far is promising.
