A study coming out of Australia has found broccoli, a common vegetable eaten by millions every day, could prevent and support people affected by strokes. Scientists confirmed a natural chemical found in broccoli could reduce the formation of harmful blood clots that lead to strokes and improve the potency and usefulness of clot-busting medicines.
After a patient has a stroke, they are treated with a type of clot-busting medication to slow down the progression of damage to the brain. When this medication was given with the broccoli-derived compound, the success rate went from 20 percent to 60 percent. The initial testing also showed once the broccoli-derived molecules were provided to individuals at high risk, it slowed down the onset of a stroke. Isn’t it amazing how nature is abundant with cures for our health?
