In Buenos Aires province, an unconventional sanctuary called “let’s dream of hope” is offering a lifeline to abused and abandoned horses. Run by Lorena Melantoni, the refuge is a sanctuary of kindness and care, offering a home for horses cast aside due to age, disabilities, or injuries. Melantoni spends her weekends caring for these horses, many of which have endured unthinkable cruelty. She rescues the horses and helps them live out their remaining years in comfort, away from the mistreatment and neglect they previously endured.
Baco, a horse found severely malnourished and injured, is an example of the cruelty these animals have faced. The sanctuary allowed Baco to recover in a caring environment, despite the damage he had endured. Melantoni finds personal reward in providing care for these horses, often saying that the joy she receives from hugging, kissing, and simply being around them is enough to make her week. “Let’s Dream of Hope” serves as a shining example of compassion and dedication, providing an essential service benefitting both horses and the wider community.
